Good afternoon my fellow Democrats.
Now that we have had over a week to begin to process the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our family, friends, and community, I wanted to take this opportunity to update all of you on the future of our Party and our movement. Like many of you, I’m sure, the last two weeks have felt incredibly uncertain upending our lives, our future, and our stability. Spending time to adjust to a new normal and to care for ourselves and our family is time well spent indeed.
Many of us have family and friends who are at risk and depend on our love, support, and care. Many of us are on the front-line combating this dangerous virus and risking our own health and safety to provide the essential services that our society requires to persist. Many of us are undoubtedly afraid and nervous about our community, our country, and our world, and anxious to do something about it.
One thing that this pandemic has made abundantly clear are the stakes of this election. We have seen firsthand what real leadership looks like. Real leadership means making the responsible decision, even when its inconvenient. We have seen that leadership from our Governor and our local elected officials who have been working tirelessly to save lives and protect Michigan families.
Our goal has been, and continues to be, winning the election in 2020 and restoring concern and compassion to Washington D.C.. Many of you will undoubtedly wonder what can be done while we are sheltering in place. We are exploring our options for how we can continue to support Democrats given these new circumstances.
Instead of meetings, we will be updating everyone by email and social media. Stay tuned for our updates. It goes without saying that COVID-19 will force us to evolve to safely meet the challenges of today, but I also know without a shadow of doubt that we are capable of meeting those challenges and will persevere and overcome.
In solidarity,
Keith Flynn
